$150,000 + $180,000 + kiwi saver (experience dependent)

The Role

Initially you’ll be right in the thick of it—owning projects from day dot through to handover. But the end goal is running and growing the existing team to give existing management the opportunity to breathe.

A typical week might see you:

• Scoping up new work, getting into the detail of design, and seeing projects through construction
• Leading the design, analysis, and delivery of structural projects that actually get built (and built well)
• Keeping things humming by working closely with clients, architects, contractors, and the wider team
• Taking full ownership of your projects—planning, organising, and keeping everything on track for time, cost, and quality
• Looking for smarter ways to do things—continuous improvement is part of the deal
• Pulling together solid project plans, coordinating resources, and keeping everyone in the loop with clear, no-nonsense reporting
• Leading from the front—mentoring junior engineers and helping lift the overall capability of the team
• Managing stakeholder expectations with regular updates on progress, risks, budgets, and timelines

What you’ll bring to the table

We’re after someone who knows their stuff but is also easy to work with.

• Around 8-10 years of structural engineering experience here in NZ within consultancy
• CPEng is required for this role
• Strong technical grounding and attention to detail—you pick up the things others might miss
• Confidence working with clients and stakeholders—you can build trust and keep relationships strong
• Leadership qualities—you’re happy guiding others and sharing what you know
• A relevant engineering qualification
• A solid understanding of local standards, practices, and how projects actually get delivered on the ground
• Good judgement—you know how to plan, prioritise, and get things done without overcomplicating it
• A bit of commercial awareness—keen to help grow client relationships and spot new opportunities
