The Company
Tier two main contractor with a genuine focus on team and culture are looking for an experienced commercial build Quantity Surveyor to join their Queenstown business. Typical project value ranges from $10 – $50mil with the odd circa $100mil project from time to time. This is an exciting diverse QS role with a company that really does put its staff first, as a result staff turnover is low and average tenure very high within the NZ build industry.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all aspects of quantity surveying on high-profile commercial construction projects
- Conduct detailed cost analysis, budgeting, and financial forecasting
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure effective cost control and budget adherence
- Prepare accurate and timely progress reports for stakeholders
- Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure favorable terms
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor
- Proven track record in successfully managing large-scale commercial projects
- In-depth knowledge of New Zealand construction regulations and standards
- Proficient in relevant quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, Buildsoft, Cubit)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field
- Membership with the New Zealand Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NZIQS) preferred
