Employment Lawyer (Senior Associate / Special Counsel / Partner)
Bring your practice. Build something exceptional.
There comes a point in every successful employment lawyer’s career when it’s no longer just about the work—it’s about having the right platform to grow your clients, develop your reputation and shape your future.
My long time client is seeking an accomplished Employment Lawyer to join its growing practice. Whether you’re a high-performing Senior Associate ready to take the next step, an established Special Counsel, or an existing Partner looking for a more entrepreneurial environment, this is an opportunity to join a national firm that genuinely invests in its people and their success.
You’ll advise a diverse client base across the full spectrum of employment and workplace relations matters, working alongside highly regarded practitioners in a collaborative, commercially focused environment. With a strong national presence and an impressive client offering, you’ll have the support, infrastructure and cross-referral opportunities to continue growing your practice.
This Brisbane lead role is ideal for a lawyer who has developed a loyal client following and is ready to leverage it on a platform that encourages long-term success. Ideally, you’ll bring a portable practice with a minimum of approximately $600,000 in transferable annual billings, together with the commercial acumen and relationship-building skills to continue expanding your practice.
In return, you’ll enjoy:
- A clear pathway tailored to your level of experience.
- A collaborative national partnership that values initiative over hierarchy.
- Genuine opportunities to grow your practice through cross-selling/pollination and internal referrals.
- High-quality operational and business development support.
- Flexibility and autonomy to build your career on your terms.
- A firm committed to long-term relationships with both its clients and its people.
This is more than a lateral move—it’s an opportunity to join a firm where your existing practice is valued, your ambitions are supported and your future is yours to shape.
If you’re ready to take the next step in your employment law career and have the client relationships to make an immediate impact, I would welcome a confidential conversation.
Responsibilities:
- Advising clients on all things employment, industrial relations, and workplace strategy
- Leading enterprise bargaining, dispute resolution, and complex investigations
- Mentoring and developing a high-performing team of lawyers
- Driving business development and deepening client relationships
- Collaborating across practice groups to deliver seamless, commercial advice
- Staying ahead of legislative changes and setting the tone for thought leadership
What’s in it for you?
- Autonomy with support
- Hybrid work that works for you (and your sanity)
- Real career growth – Not just lip service
- A firm that will invest in your leadership, not just your billables
- Big-firm resources, smaller-firm culture
- Professional development, support, coaching, and leadership training
- Mental health days, EAP, and a culture that values balance
- Social, but not forced-fun – Regular events, team lunches, and a coffee culture that’s borderline obsessive
