- High performing boutique firm seeks competent commercial lawyer
- Excellent salary on offer, with fast track promotion for high performers
- Heavy commercial focus, with some elements of property and trust law
This high performing, CBD boutique has an immediate need for a commercial lawyer with at least 3-4 years PAE+. Given the autonomy that the role represents, candidates will likely be operating at an Associate level upwards.
Reporting directly to the head of the commercial practice department, this role represents a superb opportunity to support some highly experienced, senior staff in a range of complex matters.
The successful candidate will be a confident operator, capable of independently progressing matters through to completion. You will take responsibility for assisting the head of department with the below:
- Review of and advising on commercial contracts including sub-contracting arrangements
- Advising on shareholder agreements, ensuring legal compliance and protecting their interests
- Providing strategic advice on corporate restructures to optimise operations and minimise risks
- Advising on commercial leasing and franchising matters, including negotiating agreements and resolving disputes
- Advising on land acquisitions and transactions (lot changes, zoning, title changes, caveats, mortgages)
- Acting on behalf of clients in the sale and purchase of businesses, assets sales and shares sales, ensuring smooth transactions and protection of their legal rights
- Offering expert advice on body corporate matters, including governance issues and dispute resolution
- Drafting and reviewing loan agreements, ensuring terms are favourable and legally sound
- Estate planning and administration (engaging with clients, drafting wills and POA’s, preparing probate applications)
- Setting up trusts and business entities and providing structuring advice
- Providing commercial and cost-effective solutions to clients
Ideally you will have at least 3-4 years PAE in commercial law. It is essential to have a strong understanding of commercial law principles, trust law and commercial lending procedures. If you have exposure to property law with experience of PEXA, that would be highly desirable (although not essential).
