The Company
 
Due to ongoing growth within their business my client is seeking an experienced Planner to join their established team in Hamilton.
 
The business is a very well-established consultancy with a very strong future workload. Based in the fastest growing city in NZ, my client is a well-respected, long-established consultancy. My client prides itself on providing its client with a comprehensive list of services for all Land Surveying, Resource Management, Planning and Land Development work.

This is a great opportunity to become a member of a friendly, experienced and professional team involved in several exciting projects in the greater Waikato area.

The Role
 
The position involves providing planning and resource management advice to the team and also:

  • Undertake initial feasibility assessment for potential subdivisions.
  • Recording client instructions.
  • Liaise with all clients as required for the job location and their consultants to prepare subdivision / land use proposals, obtain quotes and supply data and information as required.
  • Arrange and attend pre-application meetings with clients and Council officers.
  • Prepare resource consent applications (buildings, land, water, subdivision, s348 right of way) – write report, prepare AEE, collate application and supporting documents.
  • Landscape and visual assessments.
  • Prepare applications for compliance certificates (s223, s224c, s224f, etc)
  • Undertake site visits and document searches (District, Regional, Unitary and City Plans, titles, property files) relevant to above applications.
  • Stay up to date with plan changes i.e., District, Regional, Unitary and City, to adhere and communicate with internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Liaise with Council officers during the preparation of applications to assist smooth processing and flow of information.
  • Check resource consent conditions and prepare s357 objections if required.
  • Any other work as required to assist in planning, related resource consent and engineering matters and / or administrative tasks and office duties.
  • Supervising and training junior staff.
  • Demonstrate marketing skills and explore business development opportunities.
  • Effectively develop and build strong working relationships with existing clients, suitable prospects, leads, suppliers and stakeholders for the company.

About You

  • You will be experienced in the consenting processes and comfortable dealing with councils and clients.
  • The role will suit an ambitious planner who thrives on challenges and responsibility with plenty of scope for personal development.
  • A tertiary qualification in planning and/or resource management
  • Minimum of 3/4 years’ experience
  • Membership of NZPI
  • Conversant in RMA consent processes
  • Communication and inter-personal skills
  • Willing to work as part of a positive professional team
